I’ve been editing since I was 9 years old. My father’s office was next to an editing room; they used to let me cut trims together and run them on the moviola.
At 24, I was assisting on low-budget features, winding through miles of film to find that missing frame. A couple of years later, I was editing at Broadcast Arts, a company famous for its MTV station IDs and for PeeWee’s playhouse. There I cut hundreds of nationally-televised commercials, and gained a great understanding of animation and special effects.
After Broadcast Arts closed, the managing partners asked me to join them in their new venture, Curious Pictures. I remained at Curious for fourteen years, cutting and supervising postproduction of commercials, several television series, and two feature films.
Freelance work followed, at several New York production studios. It was good to test my skills in fresh environments, after so long at one place. However, a couple of years later, I hooked up with Team Umizoomi, which I cut for the next four years. Since then, I've cut a few animatics for Blaze (as well as a couple of my own projects), but I've been focused on moving to Portland, Oregon. Now that I'm here, I'm looking forward to seeing what I can cut in the Pacific Northwest, whether onsite or remote. With an FTP, I can virtually be anywhere!
